Soldering Safety¶
Soldering can be dangerous if proper safety precautions are not followed. Here are some important safety tips to keep in mind:
- Always work in a well-ventilated area and use a fume extractor to avoid inhaling harmful fumes from solder and flux.
- Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from solder splashes and flying debris.
- Be cautious of the hot soldering iron and molten solder to avoid burns. Always place the soldering iron in its stand when not in use.
- Wash your hands after handling leaded solder, as lead is toxic. Avoid eating or drinking while soldering to prevent ingestion of harmful substances.
- Don't wear gloves while soldering, as they can reduce dexterity and increase the risk of accidents. Instead, focus on keeping your workspace clean and organized to minimize hazards.
